Algiers Charter is Hiring an Attendance Clerk Near Orleans, LA

Attendance Clerk
Department: Martin Behrman Elementary
Work Days: 10 Month
Reports To: School Principal and Data Manger
FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Description & Expectations
  • Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
  • Maintains the attendance and withdrawal records.
  • Prepares and distributes absentee/tardy reports.
  • Communicates with parents as requested concerning student attendance
  • Monitors late arrivals and early dismissals of students
  • Utilizes student information system to maintain student attendance data.
  • Utilizes InTouch phone system to support student attendance and parent notification.
  • Assists with backup bookkeeping responsibilities, attendance information, time entry, and pay records as assigned.
  • Collaborates with Data Manager to ensure accurate records are maintained
  • Registers new students, assigns to classes, drops students timely and prepares transfer packets of information.
  •  Maintains student cumulative records and transcripts.
  •  Answers inquiries from other agencies regarding student records and transcripts 
  •  Requests student transcripts as directed by school Data Manager. 
  •  Issues absence admit and tardy slips daily. 
  •  Monitors and records student attendance daily. 
  •  Contacts parent/guardians by phone or letter to verify absences within 3 and 5 days of the absence. 
  •  Maintains logs and other documentation verifying absences. 
  •  Ensures that attendance for tardy students is recorded. 
  •  Prepares required reports and reviews for accuracy prior to submission 
  •  Notifies Truancy personnel and SAT when students have excessive absences 
  • Makes referrals to the school nurse as necessary. 
  • Stays current on changes in statutory law by attending workshops and conferences. 
  •  Monitors class size and reports to site administrator when target size is exceeded. 
  •  Assists with general functions of the office including reception, answering the phone, responding to parent concerns.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, Required
  • Minimum of two to four years clerical experience, Preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication; typing and computer; organization
  • Experience with Microsoft software and office machinery

  • Ability to work evening and/or weekend hours when necessary.

  • Frequent district wide travel; occasional statewide or out-of-state travel.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Rotating within a school environment.
